Triggers for compassion

We all have triggers. Certain attitudes, actions and behaviour patterns in others will provoke a reaction. How do we manage this?

Is it best to speak up and confront the situation head on?

Is better to act swiftly to resolve the disagreement?

What if we just sit still and ride it out, observing that the trigger point is external and therefore beyond our influence?

Learning to respond with kindness even when presented with challenging circumstances is a great skill. It takes practice. It might not feel like it at the time but it pays off in the end.

Relating is a complicated business at the best of times but playing a strong compassion game will help navigate even the most difficult of encounters.
