Wuji

I learned a new posture this week. It’s from the qi-gong tradition. It’s called wuji.

Stand with your feet parallel, shoulders width apart, hips tucked, knees slightly bent, open and over the feet, arms raised at chest height, fingers facing each other down, eyes looking out at the horizon.

You’ll feel your spine lengthen in both direction, all muscles should be relaxed – scan you body for any areas that are holding tension and adjust accordingly. Centre your weight across the three points: balls of your feet and heels, with a slight lean forward from the waist – feel the spring in your feet.

Head is centred above the neck with a straight spine, shoulders, elbows and arms are dropped, loose.

Breathe deeply from the abdomen. Feel the breath move through th body. Continue for some minutes.

This is wuji.
